A police convoy carrying gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed entered Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Monday after passing through four different states. The entire route was properly disinfected and stopovers were not published. Meanwhile, the convoy with Atiq Ahmed was accompanied by 45 policemen travelling in six police vehicles.
They were accused of being responsible for the transfer of former Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmed from Sabarmati Jail located in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad to Naini Jail located in Prayagraj UP.
The convoy passed through four states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Tight security measures in place at Naini Jail in Prayagraj include a high-security barracks with around 16 CCTVs and personal cameras for every police personnel as authorities prepare to bring gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf there at the jail on Monday before their court appearance on Tuesday, according to the report.
The activities in the barracks where Atiq and Ashraf will be kept will be continuously monitored on LED screens placed in the jail and all the information will be tracked online by officials in Lucknow. An additional force consisting of more than 100 policemen, including IPS officers, has been deployed in the Naini Jail premises. Plainclothes police officials will also patrol the area, the report said.
Atiq Ahmed himself will be housed in the barracks, which have a capacity of 30 prisoners, and will be guarded by police officers equipped with cameras.
